What Are Dentures (False Teeth)?
Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. They can be taken out and put back into the mouth. While it takes some time to get used to dentures and they won’t feel exactly the same as one’s natural teeth, today’s dentures are natural-looking and more comfortable than ever. There are two main types of dentures:
Complete Dentures: These are used when all the teeth are missing. They can be:
Conventional: This full removable denture is made and placed in the patient’s mouth after the remaining teeth are removed and the tissues have healed, which may take several months.
Immediate: This removable denture is inserted on the same day that the remaining teeth are removed. The dentist takes measurements and makes models of the patient’s jaws during a preliminary visit. While immediate dentures offer the benefit of never having to be without teeth, they must be relined several months after being inserted because the bone supporting the teeth reshapes as it heals, causing the denture to become loose.
Partial Dentures: These are used when one or more natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw. A partial denture usually consists of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-coloured plastic base, which is sometimes connected by a metal framework that holds the denture in place in the mouth.

Partial dentures consist of a plate with one or more false teeth attached. These dentures can be entirely made of plastic or a combination of metal and plastic. While they may include clasps to hold the denture in place, some of these clasps might be visible when you smile or speak.
Full Dentures

Over-Dentures (Implant Supported Dentures)
